London Interactive News

LIN ON HOLD

If you were paying attention you would have noticed there has not been an update sine day 2 of the bus strike. The strike had nothing to do with it, nor is anyone here on strike. Here's the story:

I am a non-news guy trying to get a newspaper going. My input was going to be on the overall site and other, non-news pages. This project is on hold until I can gain some direction and/or inspiration. I imagine anyone with writing talent, or website design talent for that matter is wondering who is at the controls here. I know more about computers and the internet than I do about gathering and writing news, but that is not to say a lot. I know nothing about making what is in my vision a reality. I know it can be done, just not by me. I am plodding along, hoping a nerd in white armour will gome riding along. Until then I will poke and nudge and work at a snail's pace. On the bright side, it will not be too difficult for you to keep up.

WHAT'S NEW?

Dec.21,2009--There is a new Photos section. Check it out from the top menu. Send in your photos.

The SPORTS page has a review of River Valley. I am hoping to find a London Knights fan to get a column going for them. Any local sports actually. All school sports are welcome, as long as it is London.

The CHAT has been taken down. What I thought was an original program turned out to be someone else's property.

The 420-FRIENDLY page has a sorta' butter recipe, some vids and a busted grow-op report.

Project: Operation Impact

(This is a dated piece but I will leave it and you can swap the Thanksgiving theme to an any day (or all days) theme. Sam.)

In conjunction with the National campaign to combat aggressive driving and impaired drivers, the London Police Service is conducting it's own "Operation Impact" this weekend. Officers will be conducting dedicated RIDE programs and dealing with aggressive drivers who jeopardize the safety of other road users. This holiday weekend many Londoners hit the road to visit family in other locations and many others will come back to our city to enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends. Whether you're coming or going, the London Police Service want all motorists to drive safely, paying particular attention to the three areas that continue to be a road safety concern; Speeding, Impaired Driving and Seatbelt Use.

October, November and December are the months of the year that historically make up the most dangerous "quarter" of the year in London. Since 2002 more people have died in London during these three months than any other time of the year.

Darkness and inclement weather might be contributing factors but driver inattentiveness, speed, lack of pedestrian safety decisions and cyclists not obeying rules are the more likely causes.

Let's change that pattern and be safe on our roads!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Welcome To Our New Readers

It is an epic endeavour. What we are attempting to do is create a website for London, Ontario. Canada. Oh, everyone is welcome, but 90% of the content will be London.

We'll start with the news, entertainment and all other local newspaperish stuff. Buy and sell is high on the list as well. We hope the news will be as live as we can get it and interactive so Londoners can update and amend.

Eventually we want to take all current mainstream social networking options, strip them down and present them to you in a one-stop, easy to use format.

What you see now is a skeleton. Did I mention interactive? Help us build this. Write in your suggestions. Add your voice to London.

I just added this for colour and to fill space.

Jobs At Mydogissam.com

Jobs? Like paying real money jobs? Not so much. $2 Tuesday for a hamburger today we can do. :P

What I need more than anything else is a Dreamweaver "Expert" who can help me better understand how to make things look like I want them to look. Fancy yourself to be a Dreamweaver Tutor? Do you like to share your knowledge with the less fortunate? E me. I need you.

We also need local programmers and designers with a heart for the project to work for a piece of the pie once it's baked.

We need contributors such as newshounds, feature writers, columnists, all that inprint stuff. We also need editors to take on sections like entertainment and sports. We need photographers and artists to display their talents.

Imagine a newspaper. Imagine the content (or potential content). We need all that. Soon we'll even need chat, forums & moderators and editors for every section already created and any sections created in the future. Our potential here is unlimited, just like our server space and bandwidth.

Phil's Column (or yours)

We can now allow users their own columns. If you can FTP, you can have full control over your own frame on the front page or any other page. This is, in part, how we want to be interactive. I have said it before: If it involves London, you are welcome to write about it. Virtually all topics are welcome. The editorial stance is, All is good as long as nobody gets hurt...or something like that. Email your suggestions, comments, brain farts...whatever.

The Big Headed Dog

I found this dog somewhere on my travels through the internet. He did not have a name. So, I named him Sam.
