HELP RESEARCH "RAIN DANCE"
by G. COLACCI
I have a magnificent piece of art to show off (and perhaps sell). The tag on the back reads:
Title: Rain Dance
Stone Relief
Artist: G. Colacci
Size: 30x40
Regular Price: $4,450

So says the tag. I attempted to research this artist through Google and came up with very little. There is an Italian artist named Geraldo Colacci. One of his stone reliefs is a cover photo for a gallery's website. There was also mention of a G. Colacci at a Toronto exhibit in 2002. I found a Geraldo Colacci on Facebook. He is from Italy, it says. He has yet to respond to my message.
I buy and sell. That is one of the many things I do. Very rarely do I come across a piece that I would not be comfortable selling. This is one of them. This one I want to know about. The longer it sits in view, the more and more it becomes important. I guess that is what great art does. For me, at 53, this was the first piece to reach me.
Don't get me wrong. I'll sell. I want to sell. It is what I do. I am just saying it is becoming increasingly important and therefore will become harder to pry from my fingers. More grease would be required, as it were.
The 30x40 includes the frame. The stone is about 20x27 and at least an inch thick. The frame alone is incredible. It weighs a bloody ton. As soon as I get a hand I'll get it up on the scale. (Yeah, it is that heavy) It has a serious double wire hanger on the back that looks reinforced. Whoever put this together wasn't fooling around. I want to put it on my wall but am afraid it'll take the wall down.
There is a light atop the frame. At first (being a heathen) I scoffed. I thought it pretentious or something. At home, with the light on, I could easily see why it was there. Sure the relief stands on it's own, but the frame and the light add so much.
So? Do you know anything about a G. Colacci and his stone reliefs? Is this a great piece to more than just me? Share with me.
